What to expect

Climb one of Kraków's most iconic monuments and reward yourself with the best 360-degree panorama in the city. The Kościuszko Mound is a man-made hill built between 1820 and 1823 by ordinary Cracovians — using their own hands, without machinery — to honor Polish and American war hero Tadeusz Kościuszko. Skip the ticket line and head straight up the spiral path to the 34-meter summit, standing 326 meters above sea level, for sweeping views over Kraków's Old Town, the Vistula River, and — on clear days — the Tatra Mountains on the horizon. At the base, explore the 19th-century Fort "Kościuszko," a brick citadel built by Austrian military engineers, now home to a museum exhibition on Kościuszko's life and legacy. In 2017, the mound and its surroundings were officially recognized as a national Historic Monument (Pomnik Historii) of Poland.
