About this experience
What to expect
Lisbon tested its buildings against earthquakes by having troops march around miniature wooden models. The city you'll walk through today was rebuilt on what they learned. This self-guided audio tour through Lisbon's Baixa and Bairro Alto neighborhoods gives you such stories most guided groups rush past. You'll hear why a monk's cherry liqueur recipe became a hit, visit a church whose painted ceiling fools your eyes, and learn how Portugal's tram system has American roots. Along the way, you will get a taste of local culture with insights into Fado music, Port wine, and mosaic pavements. This Lisbon walking tour works on your schedule with no fixed start time or group to keep up with. Pause for a pastel de nata, linger at a viewpoint, or take the funicular instead of the climb. This tour is perfect for first time visitors who want to experience Lisbon at their own pace. Over 20,000 travelers have explored with our audio tours, and they come with a full refund guarantee.
